It has been a busy few months towards the end of the year, with some great releases in the first half of 2023 that may have been forgotten by now. These are my top 12 games from the last 12 months, all playable on the PlayStation 5.

1. Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man 2 makes it onto the list as one of the most highly anticipated games of 2023 and it surely does not disappoint. Play as both Peter Parker and Mars Morales, explore and swing around New York City, fight enemies, and take on various bosses, notably Venom. It has retained everything we loved from the previous games but enhanced visuals, combat elements, and introduced new features for a fresh feel. Switch seamlessly between Peter Parker and Mars Morales, change suits, fast travel, and fly using new Wing suits. Even if you haven’t played the prequels, Spider-Man or Spider-Man Mars Morales, you will enjoy this one. However, playing the previous games is recommended.

Those who enjoy horror games should not miss this one. The sound design immerses you deeply into the storyline. While being a sequel, the game has shifted from an action genre to survival horror.
